imPAP mode is suitable for use with central apnoea, periodic respiration, Cheyne-Stokes respiration, cardiac insufficiency and pulmonary arterial hypertension.

imPAP mode adds a pressure pulse option to extend the functions of the aPAP device. With central breathing interruptions pulses are used to influence the pathophysiology of the respiratory function. These pulses limit the central breathing interruptions and prevent hyperventilation. The pulse is based on the existing pressure level.

The elimination of obstructive apnoea corresponds to the control in aPAP mode.
